When you live in Traverse City it’s easy to take for granted how beautiful the area really is. I wanted to spend the summer compiling a list of places and photos that showcase what makes Northern Michigan so great.
The Downtown area has diverting boutiques, gourmet food, and is located within blocks of Lake Michigan’s pristine blue waters. Here are 8 photos show casing why Clinch Park is the perfect spot for a day to the beach.

Clinch Park is one of Downtown Traverse Cities main attractions. Few world class beaches are so centrally located to a multitude of other venues.
Clinch Park Beach
Not only is the sand clean and the water blue, you can also rent kayaks, paddle boards, and a host of other water floaties to make your beach day truly exceptional.
Clinch Park Pavilion
Clinch Park Pavilion is both architecturally interesting and a convenient place to purchase snacks and soak up the sun. It's a good kick off point to exploring the Open Space.
Clinch Park Splash Pad
The Splash Pad at clinch park is a great way to entertain the little ones while downtown. Even when the waters not running there is still plenty to do.
Ducks on the beach
For all you animal lovers out there the ducks are great entertainment for both adults and children alike. Having grown up around people they are used to begging for handouts and providing entertainment.
Did I mention the ducks? Quack, quack. She thought I was going to share my iced coffee with her.
Clinch Park Marina
Even if you don't own a boat the Mariana adds ambiance to photos and Pokémon to your collection. I recommend checking the piers out.
The Big Screen
The film festival is an integral part of summers in Traverse City. Watching films shown on the big screen in the Open Space is a summer must.
Another feature utilized by the film festival and situated in Clinch Park is Bijou by the Bay theater.
Another great feature about Traverse City is it's relatively low crime rate. Making it safe to hang out in the park with your friends after dark. Although I always recommend being mindful of your surroundings.
Let me know what you think in the comments section below. What are your favorite things to do in Northern Michigan? How could Gallivant Society better fit your travel needs?
Manalo’s and happy travels.
